Spider-Man: No Way Home has unleashed a multiverse of villains in its second official trailer, which dropped Tuesday (Nov. 16) in the US.

The trailer unveiled during a live fan event in California featured a surprise Q & A session with star Tom Holland who hinted a “true moment in cinematic history.”

Marvel Entertainment also released a brand-new poster featuring Tom Holland's Spider-Man and Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange while the cast teased the second trailer the day before it officially dropped in a special theatrical screening.

The epic new trailer shows off villains such as Doctor Octopus, Electro, Sandman, the Green Goblin and the Lizard - bringing together more antagonists than ever to any Spider-Man film before.

After his secret identity was revealed at the end of the last film, No Way Home sees Peter Parker ask Doctor Strange to cast a spell to make the world forget, only to see things go awry and open a door to the multiverse.

This leads to appearances from villains from previous Spider-Man films, including Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina) and Electro (Jamie Foxx) and The Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), who played antagonists in previous movie installments that starred Toby Maguire (2002-2007) and Andrew Garfield (2012-2014) as Peter Parker.

In the new trailer, Molina’s Doc Ock realizes that Holland is not the Peter Parker he knows, but Maguire and Garfield's versions of the webslinger were nowhere to be seen.

Variety reports that Holland himself appeared at the global fan event in Los Angeles to launch the second trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home where he hinted that such a moment could be in the film by referring to shooting a “true moment in cinematic history.”

“We were there on the day making it happen, and it was crazy — and I would love to tell you,” Holland told the audience in the theater. Holland did not spill the details, but he said that when Marvel first pitched him the movie, “I was like, ‘That’s never going to work. There’s no way you’re going to be able to get that done.’ And they did.”

Zendaya reprises her role as MJ, Jacob Batalon is back as Ned Leeds, Marisa Tomei is Aunt May, Jon Favreau returns as Happy Hogan, and Benedict Wong is Wong from Doctor Strange. Jon Watts returns to direct his third installment in the Holland series.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will be released in theaters internationally on Dec. 17, 2021 and in the Philippines on Jan. 8, 2022.
