A woman in Florida was reportedly arrested after leaving a 10-month-old baby she was babysitting in a hot car for several hours, resulting in the child's death.

According to CNN International, citing an arrest report from Baker County Sheriff's office, Rhonda Jewell allegedly left the baby "for at least five hours" as outside temperatures reached 98F (36.6C). The car's internal temperature reached over 133F (56C).

Jewell was supposed to babysit the infant along with three other children.

When she picked up the baby at the parents' home, she drove to another location where the three children are.

As Jewell was interacting with the trio, she "completely" forgot the baby was left inside the car.

The baby was pronounced dead at the hospital, and the skin was “still be very hot to the touch.” The body's internal temperature reached 110F (43.3C), though medical staff noted 110F was the "highest temperature the thermometer could read.”

Jewell is facing aggravated manslaughter charges for what happened.

This isn't the first time Florida has had cases of a baby dying inside a hot car.

During the Fourth of July celebration, a couple attended a party with their three children but left their 18-month-old child alone in their car. They reportedly drank and used drugs while partying.

Last March, a woman "just forgot" that her seven-month-old and 16-month-old granddaughters were inside her car parked in her yard.
