The Philippines has yet another athlete to send to the 2024 Paris Olympics!

The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) announced that Filipina weightlifter Rosegie Ramos secured the seventh spot among the athletes who have punched a ticket to the prestigious sports event.

This was after she emerged victorious in the women’s 49-kilogram Group B division that took place at the IWF World Cup in Phuket, Thailand.

"Your hard work, dedication, and perseverance have paid off, and we couldn’t be prouder of your achievements," the POC highlighted.

"Your journey to Paris is an inspiration to us all, showcasing the strength and determination of Filipino athletes on the global stage. Keep shining bright, Rosegie! The entire nation is behind you as you continue your Road to Paris," it added.

The Philippine Sports Commission also congratulated the weightlifter for her maiden appearance in the Olympics.

Ramos became eligible to be in the global Top 10 in her category after only five athletes in Group A surpassed her in weightlifting. Prior to the competition, the 20-year-old was in the ninth spot.

With this win, Ramos became the seventh athlete in the Philippines who will be competing in this year's games, The most recent ones to qualify were Filipina boxers Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas, who succeeded against their opponents during the 1st World Qualification Tournament for boxing that took place in Italy in early March.

Other Olympic-bound athletes include boxer Eumir Marcial, pole vaulter EJ Obiena, and gymnasts Carlos Yulo and Aleah Finnegan.

The 2024 Paris Olympics will be held from July 26 to Aug. 11 in France.
