Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo secured a spot at the Paris Olympics in 2024.
Yulo, 23, placed third in the men's floor exercise during the 2023 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Belgium on Oct. 1 (Manila time).
Since first placer Artem Dolgopyat of Israel and second placer Frederick Richard of Israel already qualified for the Olympics ahead of the world championships, Yulo became the next eligible athlete.
It was his redemption after scoring zero in the vault exercise, his pet event, and finished 59th.
Yulo placed fourth in the vault competition at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
Filipino pole vaulter EJ Obiena is also taking part in the Paris Olympics next year following his feat at the Stockholm Diamond League - Bauhaus Galan in Sweden in July. The Filipino ace cleared the entry standard of 5.82 meters just a day after the Olympic qualification season kicked off.
