PH now ranks 73rd in world's most powerful passports in 2024 with visa-free access to 69 countries
The Philippines rose two spots in the ranking of the world's most powerful passports for 2024, now placing at 73rd.
The Henley Passport Index was released on Jan. 11, comparing the visa-free access of 199 different passports to 227 travel destinations. In 2023, the Philippine passport ranked 75th on the index.
The most powerful passports in the world are from France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, and Spain granting holders visa-free access to 194 destinations.
At the 73rd rank, the Philippines has visa-free access to 69 destinations, including Barbados, Brazil, Brunei, Cambodia, Fiji, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Maldives, Morocco, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and more.
Countries that would still require a visa from the Philippines include Australia, Italy, Japan, Norway, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Spain, United Arab Emirates (e-visa), United Kingdom, United States, and more.
Other countries that ranked high on the most powerful passport index are South Korea, Finland, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Ireland, and the Netherlands. Meanwhile, at the bottom of the list is Afghanistan with visa-free access to 28 countries.
The Henley Passport Index is based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) with research from Henley & Partners. Passports are scored depending on the visa requirement for each travel destination.
