Three variants of pancit, the all-time favorite "handa" of Pinoys, are among TasteAtlas' best stir-fries worldwide.

The international food database recently announced the Top 50 Best Stir-Fries in the World, including the Philippines' pancit malabon, pancit, and pancit bihon.

Top 50 Best Stir-Fries in the World

Pancit malabon ranked 22nd, garnering 4.2 stars. On TasteAtlas' website, it's described as one of the traditional stir-fried noodle dishes prepared with thick rice noodles and doused in a flavorful shrimp-infused sauce. It's usually enjoyed with seafood ingredients such as shrimp, squid, and mussels. Adding more excitement to it are boiled eggs and vegetables.

"The dish is often served topped with hard-boiled eggs, pork cracklings, sliced cabbage, and fish flakes. As the name suggests, it stems from the coastal region of Malabon, famous for its abundance of fresh seafood ingredients," it added.

Pancit (collectively) landed on the 32nd spot with 4 stars. The Filipino dish found in various feasts and celebrations consists of stir-fried noodles with chicken, pork, or shrimp as well as celery, carrots, onions, garlic, and cabbage, according to TasteAtlas.

While the global map of flavors said it has Chinese origins (its name was derived from the Hokkien phrase "pian i sit," which means something convenient, cooked fast), it later on evolved and turned into a signature Filipino dish.

Pancit bihon, meanwhile, ranked 34th with 4 stars. It's a Filipino stir-fry dish consisting of rice noodles combined with sliced pork or chicken and various vegetables.

Pancit canton earned the 36th spot with 3.9 stars. Originating in China, it's a Pinoy dish that combines yellow wheat noodles and a variety of meat, seafood, and vegetables in a mixture of soy sauce and oyster sauce.

“Since long and thick noodles symbolize long and prosperous life, this versatile and colorful dish is usually served on special occasions such as various celebrations and birthday parties,” Taste Atlas said.

Last September 2022, TasteAtlas also named pancit, pancit canton, pancit bihon, pancit palabok, and pancit lomi as among the Top 50 Noodle Dishes in the World.

Leche flan was previously recognized as the third best-rated custard globally by the same food database, earning 4.5 stars.

In July, three classic Pinoy snacks—taho, maruya, and espasol—also made it to the online food guide’s 50 best street foods sweets in the world.
