Mark your calendars: Ayala Foundation has announced the soft opening of the Ayala Museum on Dec. 4, 2021.
Closed for renovation since June 2019, the soft opening will offer a glimpse of the newly renovated museum and library with a refreshed exhibition, event, and retail spaces. Five galleries from the first to the third floor—including the Philippines’ first-ever Digital Gallery—will initially be accessible to the public together with the Filipinas Heritage Library.
In response to the pandemic, safety protocols have been adopted such as pre-booked admissions, timed entries, and limited capacity of visitors.
In time for the museum's 60th anniversary, the new exhibitions will be unveiled alongside the new Ayala Museum website and the upcoming Ayala Museum app.
In the newly-designed lobby, guests will encounter the Digital Gallery made up of 8 sprawling screens, enabling visitors to digitally explore objects from the museum and library collections and engage in interactive and up-close conversations for free.
The open exhibitions include “Intertwined: Transpacific, Transcultural Philippines” which explores the entangled cultures brought about by man’s ability to circumnavigate the world, boasting over 240 carefully curated objects and artworks. A new dedicated gallery will also be revealed in honor of artist Fernando Zobel titled “Landscape into Painting: Fernando Zobel Serie Blanca."
A new exhibition mainstay called the "Diorama Experience" will also be on view starting Dec. 4.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Ayala Museum galleries will be unveiled by the first half of 2022.
