De La Salle University - Dasmariñas Senior High School announced that students can take up an elective on Taylor Swift in the coming semester.

The official Facebook page of the university's SHS department shared the upcoming elective along with other pop culture-related topics they're offering.

The Taylor Swift Elective, titled "Speak Now: Swifties Unleashed," will explore the musical artistry of the Grammy Award-winning singer. It's been dubbed as a "backstage pass" to the "magic" behind her music.

Additionally, the school will also have other eclectic electives on topics such as the Nickelodeon cartoon SpongeBob Squarepants, K-pop and K-Drama, biking, and cats. Previously, electives on Star Wars, Harry Potter, and anime were offered.

DLSU-D students who wish to take the electives can mark their calendars for Jan. 17 when online enrollment for the second semester begins.

The academic institution began rolling out creative electives, which are outcome- and skills-based, to allow students to pick classes based on their interests and preferences. Other electives students can take up include photography, Gender Studies, Creative Writing, Digital Marketing, Cookery, and more.

Recently, the University of the Philippines (UP) announced that it will offer a course on Swift under BA Broadcast Media Arts and Studies for A.Y. 2023-2024.

Other universities in other parts of the world—such as Stanford University, New York University, Harvard University, University of Texas, and Ghent University—have also offered Taylor Swift-related courses.
