WATCH: Action-packed trailer for ‘Gunpowder Milkshake’ starring Karen Gillan

Prepare for the mother of all battles.

Game of Thrones veteran Lena Headey and Guardians of the Galaxy’s Karen Gillan play a deadly mother-daughter duo in the first trailer for the upcoming thriller Gunpowder Milkshake.

The story follows three generations of female assassins who fight to stop a vicious cycle of violence that has haunted their lives, with events taking place over one night.

The female-led cast also features Black Panther's Angela Bassett, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon's Michelle Yeoh, and The Haunting of Hill House's Carla Gugino along with Big Little Lies’ Chloe Coleman and Paul Giamatti.

The stylish action thriller film comes from director Navot Papushado, whose previous work includes 2013’s black comedy horror-thriller Big Bad Wolves

"Our milkshake brings all the boys to the yard and then we swiftly dispose of them," quipped Gillan on her Twitter account Tuesday (May 24), while sharing the film's first trailer.

The film’s official synopsis reads:

“In her turbulent life as a professional assassin, Scarlet (Headey) was cruelly forced to abandon her daughter Sam and go on the run. Years later, despite the estrangement, Sam (Gillan) has also grown up into a cold blooded hitwoman. After a high-stake mission spins out of control, putting an innocent 8-year-old girl (Coleman) in the middle of the gang war she has unleashed, Sam has no choice but to go rogue. This ultimately leads her back to her mother and her former hitwomen sidekicks (Bassett, Yeoh, Gugino), who all join forces in an avenging war against those who took everything from them.”

Based on the trailer, the film looks like it’s going to be a pretty fun popcorn flick. The two-and-a-half minute long teaser is loaded with action-packed sequences and nostlagic retro styling reminiscent of classics like Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill. We get guns hidden in mysterious library books, intense shooting scenes with Gatling guns, a shootout in a ‘50s-style diner, and hand-to-hand combat with women kicking some serious ass.

Film producers StudioCanal and STX will release the movie theatrically in international territories, but Netflix has picked up US rights for a July 14 release.
