Electronic Arts (EA) has dropped an exciting new single player story trailer for Star Wars: Squadrons, the highly anticipated space combat game from a galaxy far, far away.

In a three-minute preview, the guys at EA gave an exciting first glimpse of the game’s single-player story, set shortly after the destruction of the second Death Star. The video opens with a narration from Princess Leia, who briefs new pilots about the ongoing state of the galactic war and the hard choices that one must make.

This Single Player mode takes place right after the Battle of Endor and the destruction of the second Death Star. A quick glimpse of an early Imperial mission behind enemy lines reveals details about space combat, dogfights, and first-person views from inside the pilot’s cockpit.

Moving forward, the story alternates between two customizable pilots at opposing sides: the New Republic's Vanguard Squadron and the Empire's Titan Squadron. As the story unravels further, players, or pilots for that matter, will see how the war unfolds on both fronts. From their perspective, each will play a part in completing the goals set by each side.

Other key details also emerged from the video. Players can now debrief with squad mates between missions and even customize/master all eight Star Fighters, including the Rebel X-wing and Imperial TIE fighter.

Apart from the first-person preview, there was also a quick look of other upcoming battles, like the bombing runs of the Nadiri Dockyards or ambushes and traps in the Zadian Abyss.

Star Wars: Squadrons will be available on Oct. 2 on PlayStation4, Xbox One, Origin PC, Steam, Epic Games Store, and Virtual Reality (VR) on PlayStation 4 and PC with cross-play support.
