Nearly more than a decade since its release, Academy Award-winning actress Brie Larson’s version of Metric’s Black Sheep debuts at No. 7 on both Billboard’s Rock Digital Song Sales and Alternative Digital Song Sales charts.
With 2,000 downloads sold last week, Larson’s (as Envy Adams) performance, which can be seen in the cult classic film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, has also entered Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart at No. 34 with one million US streams.
Earlier this month, fans of the film were in for a treat when director Edgar Wright revealed that the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Expanded Edition will be available on all digital music services starting July 9. Besides Brie Larson’s Black Sheep the expanded soundtrack will also include demos and more music from the film.

Gone are the days when fans had to stream the song through unofficial channels. Ahead of the expanded album release, Metric also finally dropped the official video of Brie Larson performing Black Sheep on YouTube last June 4.
Surprisingly, before her big break as Captain Marvel and her role in Room that won her an Academy Award, Larson had already made her way to one of Billboard’s charts. Back in 2005, her debut LP Finally Out of P.E. which included her single She Said reached No. 31 on Billboard’s Hot Singles in May that same year.
As of its release on Spotify, Metric’s Black Sheep with Brie Larson has amassed 2.5 million streams.
