Terrifying 'Scream 6' teaser trailer is out

By John Patrick Magno Ranara Published Dec 15, 2022 12:55 pm

Get ready to scream your lungs out: Paramount Pictures has just released the teaser trailer for the sixth installment in the Scream film series.

The trailer has the franchise's terrifying villain Ghostface stalking the survivors of the previous film Sam, Tara, Mindy, and Mason in a subway station in the densely populated New York City. The clip ends with Mindy, who had been growing anxious at seeing multiple people wearing Ghostface costumes in the train, is seemingly attacked by the killer.

The synopsis centers on the four survivors of the previous Ghostface killings leaving their hometown behind to start a fresh chapter. However, it seems that Ghostface's reign of terror will still live on as a new killer has emerged to start another bloodbath.

Scream VI has Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, and Courtney Cox returning to play their roles from the previous film, with Scream 4 star Hayden Panettiere joining them.

Unfortunately, Neve Cambell, who plays the courageous final girl Sidney Prescott since the very first Scream film, had decided to not come back for the new installment. This was because she felt that the salary being offered to her "did not equate to the value" she has brought to the franchise, according to a report by Deadline.

"I couldn’t walk on set feeling undervalued and feeling the unfairness, or lack of fairness, around that. [A]s a woman I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise," Campbell said.

The film is slated for a March 10, 2023 release in theaters.
