LOOK: First 4 official entries to MMFF 2022 announced

The first four official entries to the 2022 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) have just been unveiled.

In its 48th year, MMFF 2022 has the films Labyu with an Accent, Nananahimik ang Gabi, Partners in Crime, and The Teacher in its early lineup.

Vice Ganda, Coco Martin, Toni Gonzaga, and Joey de Leon are among the big names in the movies selected. Vlogger Ivana Alawi is also making her MMFF debut.

The films were chosen by a selection committee headed by Boots Anson-Roa Rodrigo and Jesse Ejercito, serving as chair and vice chair respectively.

The top four scripts were selected based on its artistic excellence, commercial appeal, Filipino cultural sensibility, and global appeal.

Here are the first four films that will be shown in cinemas nationwide starting on Dec. 25:

LABYU WITH AN ACCENT

Director: Rodel Nacianceno
Production: ABS-CBN Film Productions
Scriptwriter: Patrick Valencia
Starring: Coco Martin and Jodi Sta. Maria

NANAHIMIK ANG GABI

Director & Scriptwriter: Shugo Praico
Production: Rein Entertainment Productions
Starring: Ian Veneracion, Mon Confiado and Heaven Peralejo

PARTNERS IN CRIME

Director: Cathy Garcia-Molina
Production: ABS-CBN Film Productions
Scriptwriter: Enrico C. Santos
Starring: Vice Ganda and Ivana Alawi

THE TEACHER

Director: Paul Soriano
Production: TEN17P
Scriptwriter: Emma Villa
Starring: Joey De Leon and Toni Gonzaga

The other four entries that will complete the lineup shall be chosen beginning Sept. 2 up until Sept. 30.
