Heart Evangelista opens up about losing another baby in February: 'I was very excited to have her'

Heart Evangelista revealed that she and her husband Chiz Escudero were recently expecting a baby girl—but “she didn't make it.”

The actress made the revelation in their guest appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, where she was asked about her previous statement: "If I should be blessed with a baby, it should be now.”

Heart looked hesitant to talk about the topic at first, but she decided to share that they were “technically expecting” at that time.

“Actually I said that in an interview because technically, um, we were expecting a baby,” she said. She clarified that she wasn’t pregnant, but she "was expecting [her] only girl that [she] had left—eggs."

"So, at that time, I was, I thought she was gonna make it, but she didn't so that one was a bit hard for me," she said while holding back tears.

“I was really preparing for her, so I thought I was gonna have a baby at that time,” she continued.

While she really wanted it to finally happen “after everything [they] went through” as a couple, Heart stressed that she’s not complaining about what happened.

“I’m not the type to complain. It’s just sad because I thought I was going to be able to share what I do with my last girl," Heart tearfully said, “so it’s a little hard, but I’m not questioning everything.”

She recalled how difficult it was for her to produce the egg. “Actually, I cry not because I wasn't given what I wanted, I’m not a spoiled child. I cry because it took so hard for me to produce the egg,” she said, adding that she was supposed to name her “Sophia Heart.”

"I was very excited to have her," Heart opened up, "but I'm so blessed in so many other ways. How can I complain?"

Heart said that it happened around the time she had an interview with the “King of Talk” for a brand in February, and they found out about it right before their second wedding

“Ganun talaga, you can’t have it all,” she added.

Escudero, for his part, assured Heart that bigger things are meant for them.

"I'm predisposed to accept God's will. 'Yun ang sabi ko sa kanya," the politician said. “If it’s not now, if it’s not this, may mas maganda pang naka-plano. Hihintayin lang namin ‘yun.”

Heart has been open about her journey to motherhood. She got pregnant with twin babies in 2018 but lost them due to miscarriage. At the time, she said she was afraid of getting pregnant but realized how badly she wanted it when it happened.

In September 2022, she revealed she started undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF), which she said turned out to be "one of the toughest, challenging times” of her life as her body did not react well to the medicine she was injected with.
