Sarah Geronimo gets noticed by Tyla after 'Water' performance

Sarah Geronimo recently impressed the world when her cover of Tyla's Water caught the attention of the South African hitmaker herself.

In the Dec. 17 episode of Sarah G Specials, a segment in the noontime variety show ASAP Natin 'to, the 35-year-old performer burned the ASAP stage with her version of the hit TikTok dance craze wearing a sexy lavender costume.

On X, Tyla retweeted the performance uploaded by a user, lauding the "people" who performed her song "crazily."

Social media users replied to Tyla's retweeted post introducing Sarah as one of the best performers in the country.

"Hunni that girl is the biggest popstar in the Philippines," a social media user wrote.

"That's Sarah G. One of the biggest artists in the Philippines, a seasoned performer for more than 20 years," another user commented.

Others hoped for a possible collab between the two singers.

"She slayed and gave justice to your masterpiece. Sarah G. is a Pop Superstar. Hope to see you in one stage someday.  Thanks for making her show her daring side through this song," an X user said.

As of writing, the video has more than 1.3 million views.

Released in July, Tyla's Water made waves across multiple Billboard charts and TikTok, including Billboard's Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart and the U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart.

Meanwhile, Sarah also trended on social media with her rendition of Paloma Faith's Only Love Can Hurt Like This last Sunday, Dec. 3, on the same stage.
