WATCH: BTS drops new song 'The Planet' for animated series 'Bastions'
BTS is bringing their new song into the world with an animated twist!
The renowned K-pop boy band has released their brand-new song called The Planet, which will serve as the main theme of the upcoming South Korean animated series Bastions. It's also accompanied by a music video that has the characters of the show putting on their dance shoes and grooving to the energetic song.
Bastions is a 3D animated superhero series that is set in a world where competition is fierce among heroes. It will put audiences into the shoes of a group of rookie superheroes who must save Earth from a crisis that's being plotted by a villain responsible for environmental pollution.
Aside from BTS, the show's soundtrack will also shine the spotlight on other Korean popstars such as Le Sserafim, Brave Girls, Heize, AleXa, Seo J, Kang Min-seo and P. Cassady.
The collaboration comes as the K-pop idols aspire to "help raise the global audience's awareness of environmental issues," according to a statement by Thymos Media.
They added that "BTS is expected to provide an overwhelming sense of immersion to the emotions and action scenes of the series by singing the theme song in perfect harmony."
Bastions premieres on SBS on May 14 at 7:30 a.m. KST. According to Collider, it is also set to be released on streaming service Crunchyroll, which distributes films, television series, and Japanese anime produced by East Asian media.
