Lovi Poe joins cast of upcoming film by ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ director
Lovi Poe is certainly on a roll in the international movie scene, as the Filipino actress is set to star in an upcoming film by American producer-director Garry A. Brown.
The new movie, whose title is yet to be revealed, comes over a decade since Brown joined Marvel Studios to produce and direct multiple seasons of the TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Poe's inclusion in his new project was first publicized by Deadline in a report on March 21, which was later shared by the actress on her Instagram account.
"Couldn't be happier to share this with you guys," Poe began her post on March 22. "Really grateful for the opportunity to work with such amazing filmmakers and be part of the inspiring true story of Paul and Marie Fullerton."
According to the portal, the film will be based on the true story of American fire captain Paul Fullerton, whose life began taking a grim turn when he and his wife Marie were "unjustly accused of selling and distributing marijuana."
Poe is set to portray Fullerton's wife, while the fire captain will be played by Canadian actor Adam Beach. Deadline reported that filming will begin later this year in Dallas, Texas.
The upcoming project is yet another career milestone for Poe after the 35-year-old actress has been cast in another international film—The Chelsea Cowboy—in 2021.
She portrayed British Blues singer Dana Gillespie alongside movie stars Alex Pettyfer and Poppy Delevingne. The movie's release date has yet to be announced, but it is reportedly slated for 2024.
In addition, Poe is part of the upcoming indie film Bad Man! which also stars Hollywood actors Seann William Scott, Rob Riggle, and Chance Perdomo. The film has Lovi's husband, Montgomery Blencowe, as one of the producers.
Meanwhile, Poe's last stint in local showbiz was her portrayal of Mokang in the ABS-CBN series adaptation Batang Quiapo. The character exited the show on Jan. 4, saving the life of the lead character and Mokang's love interest Tanggol (played by Coco Martin).
