It looks like the year 2024 will see celebrity lovebirds Catriona Gray and Sam Milby exchanging vows at the altar, as the former revealed that they are thinking of getting married by "next year."

Catriona shared this in a spontaneous interview with doctor to the stars Vicki Belo on her YouTube channel on May 18. In their discussion, the pair were talking about the beauty queen's relationship with her fiance Sam.

Catriona told Vicki that their wedding will happen in an unspecified date next year, "Oh my gosh, mga next year. I just want to enjoy this season. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime season, so we just want to enjoy it and take our time."

It was back in February when the two announced their engagement by posting a sweet photo of themselves holding coffee cups with "Mr. Milby" and "Future Mrs. Milby" written on them.

Unlike most couples seen on romance films and televsion shows, the Miss Universe 2018 titleholder said that her relationship with Sam was not brought about by love at first sight nor was it grounded in friendship.

"It was just common people, but it was something that definitely grew for a long, long time," Catriona said. "We had a lot of mutual friends. And when I did [Binibining Pilipinas], my stylist was also his stylist, so we had a lot of common friends."

She went on, "But it wasn’t until the end of 2018 where I had gone to Japan with Erickson Raymundo, who is my mentor and who happens to be Sam’s manager. So, we were like, 'Oh, have you gone to church?' 'Let’s go to church.' I went with Erickson and that’s where I met Sam again there."

It can be remembered that the first time the two were spotted together was back in December 2018, when Catriona had just been newly crowned as the new Miss Universe. Photos of them at a farm in Tanay, Rizal circulated online, with Catriona's father Ian accompanying them.

In describing the man who makes her heart flutter, the beauty queen revealed that she was "guarded and apprehensive" when she first met Sam, but she gradually fell in love with him because he was such a "gentle and patient person."

"He really made me feel safe with him. I've never felt that he wanted to use who I was or that I'm a public figure. He's a public figure too, but when you become Miss Universe, a year or two years later, people still regard you as that. It's kind of that hesistancy of like 'Does this person like me for me, or do they just want to be associated with me?' But he always made me feel safe," she said.

She added, "We just have such similar values. One being our faith [as Christians], two being we're super family-oriented. He really made an effort with my family and my friends.

When asked about how many children she wants, Catriona said that she is thinking of having two kids, and that she would be happy if she welcomes two girls, or one boy and one girl.

The couple officially made their relationship public in 2020 after Sam posted a picture of himself giving Catriona a kiss on the forehead.
