Liza Soberano to star in Korean TV series 'Hwaiting'

Liza Soberano is not just making waves in Hollywood but also in Hallyu.

Podcast Production Company, DIVE Studios, made the announcement on their social media pages on Tuesday, Nov. 21 that Liza will be joining Eric Nam, The Boyz’s Kevin and Jacob, ASTRO’s Jinjin, and former Momoland member Nancy in the 4th season of Korean TV Series Hwaiting

"Your favorite show is BACK! Get ready for the most exciting season of HWAITING yet!" the caption read. 

The date of its airing is yet to be announced. 

On her Instagram Story, Liza, expressed her excitement about the series and said that she had so much fun filming Hwaiting

“Had so much fun filming this. Excited for everyone to see it!" she said while reposting the show's announcement poster. 

House on a Hill singer Eric Nam served as the main host. The series features guests who will play games each episode and the one with the most high points wins. Losers, on the other hand, are subjected to punishments at the end of every episode. Each episode features different games. 

The first season premiered in 2020 with former DAY6 member Jae Park, KARD’s BM, f(x)’s Amber Liu, BtoB's Peniel Shin, Jamie Park, P1Harmony’s Keeho and Jiung as hosts.

Prior to the announcement of Liza's participation in the show, the 25-year-old star also made a surprise guest appearance in the South Korean TV show Not Hocance But Scance in July 2022 with the show's stars Ye Ji-won, Soyou, Nicole Jung, and Kang Ji-young. 

During that time, she mentioned that she was both vacationing and working in the country. 

"Kind of vacation, kind of work. I'm just exploring Seoul, and I'm a huge fan of K-pop and K-dramas so I want to try to find work here," Liza said. 

Likewise, the actress has also been filming her YouTube travel series Liza in Korea since September featuring her exploration of the country. 

Recently, Liza made her Hollywood debut in Lisa Frankenstein's official teaser trailer last October 27 wherein she plays the role of Taffy, a reliable friend to Lisa. The film is set to premiere in February 2024. 

The actress previously said that she wanted to pursue a career in Hollywood, highlighting that it was her "personal goal to be able to bridge the gap between the Philippines and America and help the younger generation, little girls, who also dream of coming out here and make a career for themselves."
