Lovi Poe recently dropped a huge, but delightful suprise on her fans when she revealed that she has long been engaged to her boyfriend Monty Blencowe.
Lovi made the announcement by sharing a video of herself on Instagram where she flexed her engagement ring in front of a setting sun at a beach. She captioned her post, "A couple of years ago, there were two coffees, one sunrise, and a ring."
She added, "We’ve shared and celebrated this moment quietly with our family and closest friends, so we’re now more than happy to share this sweet life update with you."
While Lovi is already a well-known face among Filipinos, some have been wondering: Who is the British man who has captured the heart of the actress and is about to exchange vows with her in the near future?
A long-distance relationship
Lovi and Monty's romance first bloomed when they started dating back in 2019, having crossed paths with each other when the actress went to Los Angeles.
Their love was tested when the actress ultimately had to return to the Philippines. Despite being subjected to the tribulations of a long-distance relationship, coupled with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the pair managed to remain solid and strong.
According to his Instagram account, which has been made private, Monty is currently in Denmark's capital Copenhagen. His IMDb page meanwhile states that he was born in Brighton, England before eventually settling in Los Angeles.
Prominent film producer
One thing you may not know about Lovi's fiancé is that their line of work is actually not so far from each other.
Monty has established himself as an executive producer who has worked on quite a number of films. Some of his best-known works include The Prince, Heist, Marauders, and Escape Plan 2.
Aside from this, he also has an executive position at Lovi's very own production company C’est Lovi Productions, which she launched in 2022. The company aims to have a special focus on showcasing Filipino stories and artists in the international marketplace.
Expert in the field of medical science
Monty doesn't just boast handsome looks, but he also has the brains to make him a significant figure in the field of medical science.
His LinkedIn profile states that the film producer graduated with an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science from King's College London. Four years later, he finished his masteral in Physiological Science at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and his Ph.D. in Molecular, Cellular, and Integrative Physiology from the same university.
His scientific research, meanwhile, has a focus on "utilizing a systems biology and integrative genomics approach to uncover critical genes in disease as well as potential novel drug candidates for treatment."
Based on his page on ResearchGate, a social networking site for scientists and researchers, Monty has contributed a total of 34 publications covering a vast range of topics that include coronary artery disease, metabolic disorders, among others.
