Yeng Constantino has fulfilled her dream of owning a beach house where she and her husband Yan Asuncion can celebrate special occasions and milestones in their lives.
The 34-year-old OPM star gave a glimpse at their dream beach house in Botolan, Zambales in her interview with journalist-content creator Karen Davila.
"Bagong kasal pa lang po kami nagli-lista na ako ng mga things na pinapangarap ko,” Yeng began, noting that apart from dreaming of owning an up-and-down house, she made it a goal to own a beach house.
“Talagang nasa top of my list talaga na magkaroon ng beach house kasi feeling ko po dati parang ['yung igagastos] ng family namin kunwari pagpapasok ka sa resort ganyan, pero kung may sarili kang property, madadala ko 'yung family ko. Ang laki po ng pamilya namin e," she added.
The Ikaw singer added that she also wanted their future kids to easily relax at their own beach house, avoiding the hassle of looking and visiting different places just to unwind.
"Tapos pagnagka-anak kami 'di na namin iisipin na parang, 'Ay kailangan nating pumunta ng iba't ibang lugar para ma-experience 'yung rest.' [Dito], may sarili kang bakasyunan, kaya dream ko po talaga siya," she said.
Nestled near the beach, the 1,250 sq. property boasts six air-conditioned bedrooms which can altogether fit up to 24 people.
The quaint, Scandinavian-designed rest house gives a refreshing vibe with its minimalist fixtures from local shops in Zambales and Dapitan Arcade. Yeng said they also D.I.Y-ed some of it during the pandemic.
They also have a spacious dining area inside an all-glass kubo-style room with wooden picnic tables, or if they opt for an al-fresco setup, they have a small version of it outside.
The property also has a separate mini kubo where their family can simply chill while playing board games.
And just recently, they built an infinity pool where they can where they can unwind apart from the beach. It comes with white pebbles that add a refreshing vibe to it.
Recalling their journey in building the house, Yan shared that when they first spotted the lot, they decided to camp out to feel and imagine the space.
"Actually nakakatawa 'yung first time namin dito. Nakita namin 'yung lot tapos [nagtayo] lang kami ng tent. Sige i-feel nga natin 'yung lugar, wala pang bakod, wala pang anything," he shared.
The couple added that they initially planned to build something simple, but little did they know that it had been expanding during the process.
"Simple lang gusto namin, kahit nga kwadrado eh, basta may matuluyan lang po na bahay," Yeng began.
Yan added, "'Yung unang naisip namin, sobrang simple lang pero habang ginagawa parang palaki siya ng palaki. So it was fun na nakikita namin 'yung dreams namin na ito na lumalabas na paganda siya nang paganda."
According to Yan, they bought the lot around 2017 and 2018 then built the space for the whole of 2019.
The Chinito singer also admitted that they have always been thrifty, especially with the unpredictable nature of their profession as singers.
"May pagka kurips po kami, kuripot, necessary po kasi siya, e, lalo na kami mang-aawit; Hindi naman po lahat pinapalad na maging Ms. Regine (Velasquez) o tito Gary (Valenciano) or tito Martin (Nievera)," she said.
"Hindi ko alam kung hanggang kailan, laging ganun ang mindset ko na, 'Love, hindi ko alam kung hanggang kailan 'to so lahat ng kikitain natin sa iba nating negosyo at sa trabaho ko, gagawin natin invest lang tayo ng invest,'" she continued, adding that they continue to acquire and invest more properties.
“Hanggang ngayon po naga-acqauire kami ng properties. Hindi naman na lagi kang anxious noh pero you have to treasure kung ano 'yung present nagyi-yield ng income for you so that in the future you will [not be worried]," she said.
The couple said that the beach house is mainly for family use in the meantime, but not closing their doors to use it as a vacation rental home in the future.
