Gyeongseong Creature has been renewed for a second season, global streaming giant Netflix confirmed.

Season 1 captivated viewers with its first seven episodes on Dec. 22, 2023, followed by its last three episodes on Jan. 5. Set in 1945 Gyeongseong, just as Korea neared liberation from Japanese rule, the story unravels the creation of a monster through forbidden biological experiments.

Jang Tae-sang (Park Seo Joon), a wealthy merchant, finds himself in an old hospital where experiments are made. He is joined by a famous bounty hunter named Yun Chae-ok (Han So-hee) who is looking for her mother.

The teaser for Season 2 opens with the finale's post-credit scene, showcasing a figure reminiscent of Jang Tae-sang (Seo Joon) gazing out a window overlooking present-day Seoul, and revealing a mysterious scar marking his back.

"Gyeongseong Creature returns with an enthralling second season, extending its narrative from the tumultuous spring of 1945 to the bustling streets of 2024 Seoul. This continuation, set against the backdrop of monstrous creations born from human greed, further entwines the fates of Jang Tae-sang and Yoon Chae-ok," the description read.

Director Chung Dong-yoon shared his vision for this new chapter, stating, “Season 2 presents a story with a completely different charm. The change in space and time period will provide a clear distinction, offering an expanded universe feel.”

Gyeongseong Creature has been on the streaming giant's Top 10 in TV in 69 countries, including the Philippines. Season 2 is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix in 2024.
