Moschino names Davide Renne as new creative director

Italian luxury label Moschino on Monday, Oct. 16 named Davide Renne as its new creative director, a Tuscan-born designer who has two decades of experience designing women's collections at Gucci.

The appointment comes seven months after the departure of American designer Jeremy Scott, the pop-art bad boy of fashion, famed for his bold, colorful, and witty collections.

Renne, who rose to become head designer of womenswear during his time at Gucci, will oversee women's and men's collections and accessories for Moschino, parent company Aeffe said.

The 46-year-old will take up the role from Nov. 1 and his debut collection will be for Autumn/Winter 24-25, presented at Milan Fashion Week in February.

Renne said Franco Moschino, the Italian designer who founded the brand in 1983 in Milan, used to call his design studio "la sala giochi" or "the playroom."

"This resonates deeply with me," Renne said in a statement.

"What fashion, Italian fashion especially, and the House of Moschino most of all, can achieve with its enormous power should be accomplished with a sense of play, of joy."

"A sense of discovery, and experimentation," he added. (AFP)
