Is liking someone's sexy photo cheating? Julie Anne San Jose, Rayver Cruz share their answers in Bea Alonzo's vlog
Julie Anne San Jose and Rayver Cruz got candid in answering questions about what is considered cheating among couples.
In an interview with Bea Alonzo for her YouTube vlog April 29, Julie Anne San Jose and Rayver Cruz, also known as JulieVer, talked about how they started dating and their upcoming movie, The Cheating Game, while doing Drip Bear Paintings in Paint It Fun PH.
For starters, Bea asked the celebrity couple, “Does it count as cheating if your partner is still in touch with their exes?”
“I think it’s just weird,” Julie Anne answered. “Kapag kasi ex, ex na. Pwedeng maging like casual, gan’on, [or] civil, pero kung close, close [kayo], that’s just weird. I don’t know, it’s just not me.”
Cruz agreed with her statement, emphasizing the importance that one must consider their partner’s feelings and/or approval about it.
“Sa ibang tao, kung may abiso ng partner, wife, or girlfriend, pero kapag makikita mo sa itsura ng babae na parang, ‘Ang weird. Ba’t kayo friends?’ Itigil mo na yan,” he said.
But what if they are close to their ex before dating their current partners? For Rayver, his current partner, more than anyone else, should be given respect.
“Mas matimbang pa rin for me ‘yung respeto sa [present relationship],” he said.
Bea went on to ask if having a crush on someone else while in a relationship is considered cheating. The celebrity couple collectively said that there’s nothing wrong with it, though Julie Anne said that Rayver is the only one she has a crush on.
Rayver, for his part, said that his crushes are foreign artists, but further expressed his admiration once again for his girlfriend.
"Everytime na makikita ko si Jules, lagi kong naiisp na: ‘Lord, ano bang ginawa ko para ibigay mo siya [Julie Anne] sa ‘kin?’ Siguro may nagawa rin akong tama sa buhay ko para ibigay Niya si Julie Anne sa ‘kin,” he said, leaving both Julie Anne and Bea in kilig.
When it comes to liking someone else's sexy photo while in a relationship, Rayver said that he personally does not do that, but recalled an instance when Julie Anne got jealous over a video of a woman dancing in bikini which he sent her previously.
“May isang beses lang na may finorward ako sa kaniya (Julie Anne) na pino-point out ko is ‘yung sayaw. Gusto kong sayawin niya kasi bagay sa kanya. Super honest, sinend ko sa kanya para gawin niya ‘yung dance kasi alam kong kaya niyang gawin,” he recalled.
“‘Yung sobrang hot nito kapag ikaw ang gumawa, ‘yung moves lang naman. Hindi siya bastusin. Pero ang napansin niya is, ‘Ah, ganyan pala ka-sexy na gusto mo. Sorry hindi ako ganiyan ka-sexy' Tapos hala, mali pa ata na na-forward ko,” he said.
“That was just at the beginning [of our relationship],” San Jose clarified the incident.
Bea also asked if it’s considered cheating if your boyfriend takes home a drunk girl pal to which they both answered no.
“Alam ko naman kasi na hindi siya papatol e, nasa tao kasi talaga ‘yun,” Julie Anne said, noting about the power of women's intuition.
When asked about whether being emotionally dependent on someone else is cheating, Julie Anne answered that it is somehow cheating, but unintentionally.
“I don’t think it’s cheating intentionally, pero just for the sake of the respect do’n sa partner,” she said. “Kasi ‘di ba, ‘yung partner mo siya dapat ‘yung home mo, confidant mo, ‘yung best friend mo, siya dapat ‘yung nakakaalam ng lahat sa ‘yo,” she explained.
To conclude their conversation, Julie Anne shared that cheating is a “non-negotiable” thing for her, especially since she has experienced it multiple times.
Although Rayver did not experience it yet, he agreed, saying that every relationship is “sacred.”
“Kung mangyari, talagang deal-breaker rin, kasi sagrado ‘yun [relationship] sa ‘kin, kaya hindi ako basta basta nagda-dive in sa mga relationship kasi for me sacred ‘yun, e,” he explained.
Julie Anne and Rayver sparked dating rumors in early 2022. They confirmed their relationship publicly in November 2022 when they exchanged "I love you's" during their first concert together.
