PH's first luxury boutique gym opens in Makati—here's what's inside

One of the best ways to look good and feel good is to keep one’s physical wellness, and one important thing to keep you motivated is an environment that motivates you.

Nestled at the heart of the bustling streets of Ayala Triangle in Makati, Kinetix+, the Philippines’ first luxury boutique gym boasts not only state-of-the-art gym equipment but also coaches to guide you in your journey to fitness. 

“[Kinetix+] is a culmination of our experiences, lessons, and aspirations,” co-founder and head coach Marlon Lugue said during the exclusive media and VIP launch, adding that it was first established as their passion project 10 years ago. 

“[It was] directed towards pushing and establishing norms, and challenging an industry which is quite conservative,” he added. Like most businesses, the company was greatly affected during the pandemic lockdown. But with the help of their supporters, as well as their passion for fitness, they were able to power through and then establish PH’s first luxury boutique gym. 

One of its highlights is the Biostrength line machines—the first in the Philippines and second in Asia to offer these state-of-the-art machines. 

As a person who has a sedentary lifestyle, working out has been daunting for me. It never piqued my interest to use any of the gym equipment since most of it looked complicated.

At Kinetix+ though, their machines are advanced, it was kind of surprising that they are pretty easy to use. The first equipment I tried was the shoulder press from the Biostrength line which has four goal programs, including toning or developing muscles with hypertrophy.

Most of the machines are connected to a tablet where you can easily keep track of your progress, or customize programs according to your goals, like weight loss or muscle building. 

What’s best about this is that most of it is gamified, which helps in encouraging you to engage further and to also distract yourself from feeling your sore muscles during the workout.

The whole ambiance of the place is also refreshing—from floor-to-ceiling windows that allow natural light to set in, spacious and clean surroundings, to upbeat music in the background, allowing every member to have an enjoyable fitness journey. 

My favorite part of the gym is the cardio corner, which faces the view of Makati’s version of “Shibuya Crossing.” 

In there, you can find low-impact yet high-intensity workout equipment, like rowing and cycling machines for legs and core, manual treadmills that will base their power on your own, and stair climbers for your quads and improvement of balance.
