An 87-year-old woman fought off a teen intruder and then offered him food because he was hungry.

Recalling the incident to The Times Record, Marjorie Perkins was asleep in her home in Bay Bridge Estates when she woke up to a teenager standing over her bed around 2 a.m. last Wednesday

The teen started hitting her, causing a bruise on her forehead. The old woman said she used a chair as a shield.

The attack continued until the teen, who reportedly wasn’t wearing pants or shoes, got tired out and went into the kitchen. Perkins asked him to leave the house, but the teen kept looking around the kitchen.

“He said he was awfully hungry and hadn’t had anything to eat for quite a while. And I said, ‘Well, here’s a box of peanut butter and honey crackers. You can have that whole box.’ I gave him two containers of Ensure and I gave him two tangerines,” she told the media.

Perkins grabbed the opportunity to call 911 while the teen intruder is eating.

She also said that the teenager ran away before the cops came. However, he was apprehended by a Brunswick police dog a few blocks away.

The teen, who refused to be identified by the authorities, was brought to the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland and is now being held on charges of burglary, criminal threats, assault, and consuming liquor as a minor.

Perkins said that the same boy mowed her lawn ten years ago.

“I hope he gets help,” she said.
