'Bar Boys' musical to hit the stage in May 2024
Comedy-drama film Bar Boys is getting a musical adaptation, and it's coming to the stage in May.
Barefoot Theatre Collaborative announced the news on Friday, Feb. 16 by sharing a 30-second video teaser on Facebook.
Sheila Francisco is set to portray Justice Hernandez, originally played by Gawad Urian winner Odette Khan in the movie.
Further details, including the full cast and ticket prices, have yet to be announced.
Bar Boys: A New Musical was first revealed to be in the works in April 2023. It's being helmed by Pat Valera, the same director and playwright of the musical Mula Sa Buwan starring Gab Pangilinan and Myke Salomon.
The hit Pinoy film was released in 2017. It follows the story of a group of friends as they manage various struggles and challenges in pursuit of being professional lawyers. Starring Rocco Nacino, Carlo Aquino, Enzo Pineda, and Kean Cipriano, the movie was directed and written by Kip Oebanda, best known for his brilliance in Liway.
