Are you a creative individual who has a project in mind but has few resources? Here's your chance to make it come to life as the deadline for the submissions of proposals for Benilde Open Design + Art has been extended.

According to its organizers, the submission is extended to Monday, Feb. 12, adding that the proponents of selected proposals will be notified by March 2024.

As per its website, the program encourages participants to submit proposals of "unrealized projects that are multidisciplinary in nature and line with the theme, Curious," reflecting interests and curiosities found across sustainability and movement, craft and technology, and digital or virtual worlds.

The invitation also seeks design and artistic endeavors that are "marked by an appetite for investigation and experimentation."

The organizers added that they welcome all proposals across disciplines and inspirations.

A distinguished jury consisting of advocates from both local and international creative industries will evaluate and select ten projects that will be awarded a grant of up to P300,000 net of taxes. Additionally, the Benilde Open Design + Art team will also provide curatorial assistance for the staging of your project.

The organizers noted that miscellaneous expenses "are supported as long as they are reflected in the budget submitted in the proposal." The producers must "be able to realize" their proposed project within the P300,000 budget.

The chosen pieces will be displayed in a month-long exhibition that opens to the public on May 23, highlighted by a much-awaited show by an international artist.

How to join?

The program is open to all Benildean and non-Benildean creative practitioners of Filipino citizenship. Interested individuals may submit an application form alongside the details of their proposal. Entries must be submitted to [email protected].

Last November 2023, the Benilde Open Design + Art was launched as part of the celebration of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde's 35th anniversary.

The program aims to welcome Filipino artists, including architects, technologists, engineers, industrial designers, artisans, illustrators, textile designers, and animators, among others, in creating a proposal that will uplift the creative industry amidst the technological advancement the world is facing.

By promoting creative and collaborative projects that span a variety of creative disciplines both within and outside the school, the program also aims to shape students' perceptions of art and design.
