US elections trigger stress eating and drinking as pizza and liquor top Google search

The highly cardiac nature of the tightly contested US presidential elections has triggered a binge of election munchies among the edgy American public.

According to Google, the “near me” search queries for pizza, chinese food, liquor stores, sushi, and Mexican food topped their platform on election day.

The search string “fries near me” and “liquor store” also zoomed to all-time highs in the Google search engine.

“Are you thinking about food, this #ElectionDay? You are not alone,” Google Trends tweeted.

The most recent update by Google Trends showed the top search queries are Who is winning the election?, When will we know the election results?, and How many electoral votes are there?.

A day after the elections, Democratic nominee Joe Biden and incumbent president Republican Donald Trump remain locked in a race to reach the needed 270 electoral votes, though Biden has claimed a lead among some exit polls. Trump, however, has falsely claimed a victory even as millions of votes have yet to be counted, and even filing court cases in some states to halt the counting of ballots.
