An Australian woman survived in the wilderness for five days with only a bottle of wine and lollipops.

The local police reported on Saturday, May 6 that the woman, who had been missing, was finally rescued in a remote bushland.

The 48-year-old woman, identified as Lilian, was supposed to take a short trip en route to Dartmouth Dam on April 30, but late to realize that she took a wrong turn after reaching the end of the road.

“She was only planning a short-day trip so had only taken a couple of snacks and lollies with her but no water,” said Martin Torpey, Police Sergeant from Wodonga Police Station.

Lilian tried to go back, but her car got stuck in the mud. She was also unable to call for help since there was no phone signal.

“Lillian was found a good 60 km away from the nearest town and due to health issues she was unable to try and walk for help so stayed with her car,” said Torpey.

“She used great common sense to stay with her car and not wander off into bushland, which assisted in police being able to find her,” he added.

Torpey went on to share that Lilian managed to survive with a bottle of wine and a couple of lollipops.

“The only liquid Lillian, who doesn’t drink, had with her was a bottle of wine she had bought as a gift for her mother so that got her through,” he said.

“While she couldn’t move her car, she was able to use the heater overnight give her some warmth,” he continued.

For her part, Lilian shared that she was sure she would not survive, so she already prepared a farewell letter to her family.

“My whole body shut down on Friday, I’m just sitting there thinking, what am I going to do, how am I going to survive this?” she told to local media.

“I thought I was going to die out there,” she added.

Lilian was immediately taken to the hospital for observation and to get treated for dehydration.
