Filipino meryenda store Lola Nena's shared a job posting that apparently referenced—and served as a stark contrast to—the recent controversial post of fries brand Potato Corner.

In a Facebook post on Aug. 21, Lola Nena's shared vacancies on its several branches.

But instead of listing specific requirements, the store only rhetorically asked the qualifications and gave words of assurance to aspiring applicants, as seen below:

  • Age? It doesn't define you.
  • Education? Passion for food and people is our priority.
  • Math skills? We'll teach you what you need to know.
  • Gender? All are welcome.
  • Appearance? Your warmth and authenticity shine the brightest.
  • Communication? Respect and kindness are our languages.
  • Love for language? Absolutely essential.

It noted that it values love, care, respect, warmth, and professionalism.

"We're not looking for beauty queens or math geniuses; we're looking for hearts that align with our mission to impart happiness and create meaningful experiences," it said.

The post has earned over 97,000 reactions (mostly "Love"), 2,900 comments, and 23,000 shares to date.

Netizens commended the brand for the wholesome job posting.

"Eto talaga yung good example ng employer," one user said.

"Wow sana all ganito po More Power and continue to love employees so that reciprocation will follow and more blessings!" another user said.

Over the weekend, Potato Corner's branch in Ventura Mall in Dasmariñas, Cavite shared a job posting with a list of qualifications that's seemingly "Miss Universe levels," according to social media users.

In the now-deleted Facebook post but captured by several social media users and pages, the branch was looking for a service crew with the following qualifications:

  • 18 to 30 years old
  • At least high school graduate
  • Knowledgeable [in] basic mathematical computations
  • Preferably female
  • Have a good visual impact and pleasing personality
  • Weight must be proportionate to height
  • Have clear complexion, eyesight, and good set of teeth
  • Know how to communicate in Filipino and English
  • Definitely love dealing with all types of people

Many netizens poked fun at the requirements, as they noted how high the standards were.

In a statement, Potato Corner said that it wants to "set things right" after the post has gone viral and noted that its values are "all about diversity and inclusion."

It vowed to review its procedures to ensure it won't happen again.
