OceanGate still advertising Titanic dives after submersible tragedy

OceanGate is still advertising trips to the Titanic wreckage even after the implosion of its Titan submersible that killed five people on board.

As seen on its official website, the sea exploration company is holding two upcoming missions to the shipwreck site in June next year: one from June 12 to 20 and another one from June 21 to 29.

The listing said travelers will be accompanied by “content experts,” including David Concannon, Rory Golden, Dr. Scott Parazynski, Dr. Steve Ross, and Dr. Bridget Buxton. It also mentioned “renowned Titanic expert” PH Nargeolet, who was among the five passengers that died in the tragedy in June.

Other people on board were British explorer Hamish Harding, Pakistani-British tycoon Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman, and OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush.

CNN International reported that OceanGate’s Titan vessel lost contact with its mother ship about an hour and a quarter into its descent to the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean on the morning of June 18.

On June 22, the US Coast Guard (UCG) confirmed the death of everyone aboard the submersible after it suffered a “catastrophic implosion” in the ocean depths.

The UCG said on June 28 that presumed human remains from the Titan sub have been discovered. They will be formally analyzed by medical professionals in the United States.

The coast guard has launched its “highest level of probe” into the tragedy. Canadian authorities are also conducting a separate investigation.
