London museum hiring Taylor Swift expert
Taylor Swift’s fans in London may want to apply for the best job they could ever ask for: a “superfan advisor” of the mega popstar at a museum.
BBC reported that the Victoria & Albert (V&A) Museum is looking for a British Swiftie who can give expert insights into Swift’s fan culture and the memorabilia that Swifties collect and create.
In particular, the museum is looking for someone with a “specialized interest in the friendship bracelets and signs that attendees of Swift's 'Eras Tour' have been using.” They tend to swap friendship bracelets in her shows, BBC reported.
Aside from a Taylor Swift Superfan Advisor, V&A is also looking for experts on Crocs, drag, emojis, and tufting “to help us learn more about our collection at the V&A as well as the current cultural trends that will inform the future of museum collecting.”
Successful candidates will meet V&A’s curatorial experts, share knowledge about their specialist subject, learn about the history of these objects and why they are relevant to art, design and the future of creativity, the museum’s website stated. They’d also have the chance to go behind the scenes of the museum to view relevant items from the collection, as well as receive a museum membership.
Membership perks include free entry to all exhibitions, exhibition preview, access to members’ room, priority booking in events and academy courses, exclusive content, family access, and discounts on shops.
V&A said it will cover “reasonable travel costs” to the museum for the curatorial meeting.
To date, V&A has superfan advisors on Toby jugs, Pokemon cards, Gorpcore clothing, and Lego, BBC reported.
The museum is looking to appoint a Taylor Swift superfan advisor before she kicks off the European leg of her "The Eras Tour" in May.
The deadline for applications is on March 7, though V&A said it has the right to close it early.
In September 2023, American broadcasting company USA Today was also looking to hire a full-time Taylor Swift reporter who could “capture the music and cultural impact" of the artist.
According to the listing, the journalist will make an hourly wage ranging from $21.63 (P1,214) to $50.87 (P2,856).
