Man 'in disbelief' after finding winning P11 million lottery ticket in his wallet a month later

A lucky man in Michigan discovered that he won the lottery jackpot worth $200,000 (over P11 million)—a month after stuffing it in his wallet.

According to a recent report by DailyMail, Yandiel Cruz-Chavez took his odds in a Fantasy 5 lottery in May for a mere $1 (P56), only to discover that he hid his luck in his wallet until a week past the announcement. 

"I bought a Fantasy 5 ticket and forgot I had it in my wallet until a week after the drawing," the bettor told lottery officials. 

"I checked the ticket at the store and got a message to file a claim, so I looked up the winning numbers online. When I realized I'd won the jackpot, I was in disbelief at first," he recalled.

His five winning numbers—08-20-29-33-39—led him to the whopping $199,407 jackpot.

"Once it sunk in that I had really won, I was overcome with excitement and called everyone in my family to tell them the good news!" he said.

The winner from Wyoming, Michigan could only turn out grateful. He said that the prize came at the perfect time, and that he is looking to spend it on home improvements—and save the rest for other expenses in the future.
