Cities of Makati, Taguig issue road closure for upcoming New Year's Eve celebrations

Heading out this New Year's Eve? Take note of these road advisories.

The cities of Makati and Taguig both issued a notice for road closures in preparation for their respective NYE countdowns.

On its Facebook page, Make It Makati announced that Ayala Avenue and some of its surrounding roads will be closed from Dec. 27 leading up to the grand event to usher in the new year.

According to the Makati LGU, Ayala Ave. (Fonda St. to Paseo de Roxas) and Makati Ave. (Dela Rosa St. to Santo Tomas St.) will be closed from Dec. 27 to 30 for the "venue and stage set-up."

The roads Ayala Ave. (Fonda St. to Salcedo St.), Makati Ave. (Dela Rosa St. to Santo Tomas St.), Paseo De Roxas (Dela Rosa St. to Makati Ave.), V.A. Rufino St. (Dela Rosa St. to Valero) will subsequently be closed from Dec. 31 to Jan. 1 to make way for the New Year’s Eve countdown event itself.

Makati City's countdown, titled "Nostalgia meets the Future," will kick off with a DJ pre-show party at 6 p.m. before the amazing performances from OPM icons at 7 p.m. 

Headlining the event are OPM Royalty “Asia’s Songbird” Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, rock band Spongecola, rapper Al James, and P-pop kings SB19. 

The stage will also be graced by renowned Pinoy theater artists such as Phi Palmos, MC Dela Cruz, Shaira Rica Avelino Opsimar, and more. The overall event will be directed by Paolo Valenciano and will be hosted by Baus Rufo and Ai Dela Cruz. 

Meanwhile, Bonifacio High Street in Taguig City has also announced that they will be closing some roads for their respective countdown, which are as follows:

  • 5th Ave. (30th to 28th St.) to be closed from Dec. 27 to Jan. 1 at 4 p.m.
  • 27th St. (7th Ave. to 9th Ave.) to be closed from Dec. 30 to Jan. 1 at 4 p.m.
  • 28th St. Cor. 5th Ave. to be closed from Dec. 31 to Jan. 1 at 4 p.m.
  • 5th Ave. (28th St. to 26th St.) to be closed from Dec. 31 to Jan. 1 at 4 p.m.
  • 30th Ave. to be partially closed from Dec. 31 to Jan. 1 at 4 p.m.

Aside from this, Bonifacio High Street also shared the places where you can park your car on Dec. 31. These will be open for 24 hours.

Bonifacio Global City’s "NYE at the 5th" New Year countdown will be headlined by Red Velvet’s Irene, Seulgi, and Wendy as well as OPM icons KZ Tandingan, Adie, Zack Tabudlo, and Ely Buendia.
