A woman had to be rescued from an outhouse toilet after getting stuck in it while trying to retrieve her Apple Watch.

In a statement, the Michigan State Police said that the incident took place on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at Dixon Lake in Otsego County's Bagley Township before lunchtime.

"The woman was heard yelling for help and told first responders she had dropped her Apple Watch in the toilet. She then lowered herself inside the toilet to retrieve it and could not get out," authorities recalled.

Conservation Officers from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR), troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Gaylord Post, and Otsego County EMS also helped with the rescue.

"The toilet was removed, and a strap was used to hoist the woman out to safety," they said.

The police also gave an important reminder to those who might find themselves in the same situation in the future. "If you lose an item in an outhouse toilet, do not attempt to venture inside the containment area," they stressed, noting that "serious injury may occur."

It's unclear whether the Apple Watch was also retrieved.
