Miley Cyrus says she didn't make money during 'Bangerz' tour in 2014: 'I paid for it all'
American singer Miley Cyrus in her TikTok series bared that she didn't make money during the tour of her fourth studio album Bangerz in 2014.
In the latest entry on "Used to Be Young," Miley said she was told her 100-show tour wouldn't make any money, but she proceeded anyway since she wanted to invest in herself.
"I paid for it all to make it exactly what I thought I and the fans deserved," she said.
The concert was described as "campy," "surreal," and "raunchy" by attendees and critics, as it featured elaborate costumes, larger-than-life puppets, and other oversized props.

Miley noted that only a few people understood her ideas for the show.
“A lot of these ideas were kind of so outlandish that no one really wanted to support me in making these pieces," she said.
In the video, she also talked about how her creative director asked if she wanted to end her show and thought of referencing the 1998 satirical sci-fi The Truman Show. The movie, starring Jim Carrey, revolves around an insurance salesman whose whole life is broadcast as a reality television show.
"So I flew out on a giant hot dog, obviously, and I left through all the clouds and the exit sign, the way Jim Carrey does," she said, "because I felt like The Truman Show was really a reflection of my life.”
Miley, the daughter of country singer Billy Rae Cyrus, gained popularity as a teen idol starring on Disney's Hannah Montana.
Her Bangerz, which she described as having a "dirty south hip-hop" sound, was a departure from her previous work like Party in the USA and The Climb. It also saw her public persona's evolution. Its singles include We Can't Stop and Wrecking Ball.
Her March 2023 studio album Endless Summer Vacation received positive reviews from critics, with singles like Flowers, River, Jaded, and later on Used to be Young as part of its digital reissue last August.
"Used to Be Young" the TikTok series, for Miley, is her way of looking back on her life and sharing untold stories, as inspired by her latest single of the same name.
