Carlos Yulo struck gold in the men's individual all-around gymnastics at the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam on May 13, while the Philippine men's gymnastic team snagged a silver medal.
The 22-year-old Olympian scored 85.150 points, beating out Vietnam's Le Thanh Tung (84.050) and Dinh Phuong Thanh (82.450).
Yulo failed to finish with two golds on Friday and settled for silver in the men's team event with Jan Gwynn Timbang, Juancho Besana, John Ivan Cruz, Justine Ace De Leon, and John Matthew Vergara.
Together, they scored 301.60 points, failing to foil Vietnam's 331.25 points. Singapore finished third with 297.650 points.
The gymnastics star will hit the mat again on Sunday for the men's pommel horse and floor exercise events.
