PAGCOR releases statement on allegations of logo plagiarism

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) denied that it copied its new logo from another website.

In a statement released on July 13, the state-run gaming company said they condemn accusations that they plagiarized their newly launched logo from a website called Tripper, adding that they are "entirely false" and are "driven by malicious intent."

PAGCOR said that it has always held itself to the highest standards of ethical conduct and that they are dedicated to creating a gaming industry that is "safe" and fair.

"Throughout its operations, PAGCOR has consistently upheld the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability. The agency remains dedicated to fostering a safe and thriving gaming industry in the country," it wrote.

"Nonetheless, PAGCOR is actively investigating the source of this malicious and baseless campaign and urges the public to exercise caution," it added.

It pointed out that the website in question lacks credibility and rather looks like a phishing site.

"The agency urges everyone to be vigilant and to obtain information from credible sources to combat the spread of false narratives and protect themselves from potential scams," it warned.

"PAGCOR remains dedicated to responsible gaming, regulation of the Philippine gaming industry and nation building. The agency appreciates the public's support and maintain its commitment to excellence."

PAGCOR's new emblem, which features a flame-like design in red and blue, drew flak from the public after it was unveiled last July 11.

Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco said that the new logo "incorporates the element of fire associated with energy, inspiration, passion, and transformation.”

“It symbolizes the flame that ignites change and drives progress. The logo likewise reflects a beacon which symbolizes guidance, leadership, and direction. It represents a guiding light that helps people find their way,” Tengco added.

“All these taken together, our new logo reflects Pagcor’s long standing commitment of being a guiding force that illuminates the way forward, drives transformation and development, and brings inspiration and motivation to the lives it touches,” he furthered.

The said logo reportedly cost around P3 million.
