Pauline Sotto, Bea Alonzo, Kim Chiu and others’ Christmas trees will put you in a festive mood

The world has faced a lot of uncertainties this year, but the good news is Christmas will never be canceled.

While a few changes must be made in light of the pandemic—Christmas parties are going on online and gift-giving will be done door-to-door through our trusty couriers—what’s important is that the tradition and holiday spirit still lives on.

For some celebrities, those minor adjustments include turning their towering Christmas trees into a glamorous feast despite using old or recycled decors. Some have shared their masterpieces online and they’re sure to put you in your usual positive yuletide vibe.

PhilSTAR L!fe rounds up some of them to inspire you to keep your home merry and bright this joyful season.

Kim Chiu

Kim Chiu’s Christmas tree made the rounds on the internet last year after the actress filled the whole 12 feet of it with pretty pink decors. The Kapamilya actress decided to tone it down just a bit this holiday in view of the pandemic.

“Hindi muna ako bumili ng Christmas decors. Ni-recycle ko nalang ‘yung mga Christmas decors ko through the years,” she said in her YouTube vlog on Nov. 28.

Kim then went for a conventional yet classy motif of red, white, and silver. She explained, “Gusto ko red kasi red represents happiness. Ano man ang nangyayari sa atin ngayon, it is really important to be happy. And kahit na may pinagdadaanan tayo, kailangan natin itayo ang Christmas tree kasi it’s a sign of hope and happiness.”

She added, “And may mga pamangkin rin ako so hindi natin puwede ipagkait sa kanila ang Christmas spirit because let’s all be thankful na we’re all healthy, safe. Let’s celebrate Christmas kahit may COVID, limitations, lahat. We have to celebrate kahit papano.”

White and silver, meanwhile, “symbolizes hope and purity.”

Kim began setting up the tree by wrapping yellow Christmas lights around it. She installed a silver star tree topper on its tip before attaching white artificial leaves, as well as big white and red faux poinsettia flowers to its branches. Adding a whimsical vibe to the setup are the plastic candy canes that Kim hung on the tree.

The combination of all three colors, she said, connotes their optimism for a “brighter 2021 for all of us.”

Bea Alonzo

Bea Alonzo and famed event stylist Gideon Hermosa turned Bea’s eight-year-old tree into a dazzling work of art inspired by the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree in New York City.

The actress chronicled how they worked on the details in her YouTube vlog on Nov. 21.

“Sinabi ko nga kay Gideon, I want a traditional American Christmas [tree]. ‘Yung parang nakikita mo sa Rockefeller. Kasi I cannot travel, sabi ko, dalhin natin ang Rockefeller dito sa bahay,” she recounted.

They adorned her green tree with ornaments in red, gold, and a little bit of white. It consisted of Christmas leaves, candy canes, artificial Magnolia flowers, as well four types of Christmas balls: big and red, red with embossed gold pattern or Christmas greeting, and clear with glitters.

Gideon placed several Kraft boxes on its foot as accents. The stylist made the entire ensemble chicer by using big red and gold ribbons as Christmas topper instead of a star.

Kathryn Bernardo

Kathryn Bernardo's bear-y bright Christmas tree is another masterpiece by Gideon. The actress and the sytlist used the same set of polar bear plushies that they installed on the tree back in 2019.

This year, the actress went for a red motif "kasi apparently, never kami nag-red. Gusto ko parating blue kasi gusto ko ‘yung parating malamig or kung hindi naman kami mag-Christmas tree, nasa bang bansa kami,” Kathryn said in her YouTube vlog on Nov. 16.

After two days of sprucing it up with Christmas balls, Dahlia flowers, leaves, and of course, polar bear stuffed toys, Kathryn's five-year-old tree turned out chic and unique.

Karla Estrada

Karla Estrada gave her tree a magical touch by going for an all-pink palette. It was prettified using Christmas balls, Dahlia flowers, as well as white gift boxes as accent. The best part? It is layered with a flutter of baby pink butterlies.

Bianca Gonzales-Intal

Bianca Gonzales-Intal is channeling cool winter vibes in their home with their white Christmas tree.

Although the TV host decorated it with just a few (yet beautiful) gold ornaments, its simplicity makes the entire ensemble elegant.

Pauleen Luna-Sotto

Although the best view we could only get of Pauleen and Vic's Christmas tree is through Vic's appearance on Eat Bulaga, there is no doubt that it has been bringing holiday cheer to the noontime show regularly. Besides that it's obviously huge, just take a close look at its quirky ornaments—it includes a Gingerbread man and a polar bear.

Marjorie Barretto

Marjorie Barretto gave her followers a "Christmas decor house tour" in her YouTube vlog last Nov. 15.

Aside from putting fresh poinsettias in every corner of her nook, the celebrity mom decorates it with predominantly silver tree adorned with a variety of Christmas balls. She refrains from hanging too many Christmas lights on it "kasi natatakot ako mag-overheat," she said.

She also shared a piece of advice about picking the right tree that she once told her daughter Julia: "Your Christmas tree should really reflect on your character, your mood, your personality. It’s something that you think ‘Ah, kapag binili ko Ito, it’s a good investment kasi I will carry this with me for many, many years to come.' And that’s the story of my Christmas tree.”
