The Philippines gets back-to-back win as Asia's best dive destination

It's another win for the Philippines!

The Department of Tourism announced on Thursday, March 2 that the Philippines has defended its title as the Best Dive Destination during the Diving, Resort, and Travel (DRT) Show in Malaysia.

The country defeated Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, and the Maldives at the largest diving expo in Asia held last February 24-26.

Speaking about the win, Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said that the back-to-back wins will put a spotlight on the beauty of the country.

"We take great inspiration from our diving communities and dive stakeholders as we continue the collaborative work of ensuring not only the marketability but also the sustainability of our destinations,” she said.

Frasco added that the DOT will continue to "develop and promote the Philippines as an ideal destination for all travelers with the aim to enhance the tourist experience, strengthen and transform the tourism industry from the ground up."

Aside from this award, the country is also the World’s Leading Dive Destination in 2022. The Philippines is also Asia’s Leading Dive Destination at the World Travel Awards (WTA), a title it has been holding since 2019.
