Sigh, it's the end of an era. Jollibee's lumpiang shanghai is no longer on the menu.

Many social media users noticed the item's absence over the last few days of September, and Jollibee just confirmed the news.

"We’re happy that people have enjoyed eating our Shanghai as much as we’ve enjoyed serving it to our loyal Jollibee customers, and we’d like to extend our sincerest appreciation for all the support," the popular fast food chain told PhilSTAR L!fe in a statement.

"Unfortunately, our Shanghai is no longer available in our stores."

Jollibee asked patrons to try its other offerings like Super Meal comprising Chickenjoy, half serving of Jolly spaghetti, regular fries and drink, as well as its Burger Steak.

"Please follow our official social media accounts and watch out for new and exciting food offerings as we continue to share the Joy of eating," it said.

Lumpiang shanghai is among the popular items on Jollibee's menu.

By extension, the fried spring roll made of ground pork and minced veggies is a fixture in Filipino cuisine and a staple on occasions, especially birthdays.

Jollibee has over 1,500 branches in the Philippines and in other countries like Taiwan, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, the United States, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Spain.
