SM Green Finds: Enabling a more inclusive and sustainable lifestyle for Filipinos

Since the SM Green Finds initiative was successfully launched last year, Filipino consumers have hopped on the green bandwagon and embraced a greener, cleaner lifestyle.

And as the world celebrates Earth Day today, April 22, the SM Green Movement goes into higher gear with more and more Filipinos joining the ride to the green.

The SM Store makes green living easy and exciting with Green Finds, a campaign under the SM Green Movement that promotes products that are eco-friendly, made from natural and local ingredients, and support local communities.

“ For Earth Day 2023, a good selection of Green Finds merchandise will be made available nationwide” 

SM Store EVP Dhinno Tiu is happy to note that customers were “genuinely interested” to find out more about their advocacy on sustainability and the products the SM Store has available to support this. “There was an observable increase in the sales of the items with the Green Finds badge," he adds.

But of course, SM could not have done it without its retail partners. "Retailers have always been crucial to the formation of consumer behavior and lifestyle," Tiu asserts.

"By ensuring that we have the relevant products available to fit our customers' evolving needs and advocacies, retailers ensure the establishment of these changes and a renewed purpose."

Be prudent, choose green

Filipinos are naturally masinop (frugal) and best known for their resilience and resourcefulness. SM Store, as a marketplace, harnesses these traits to influence the average consumer to be more prudent when making purchases.

 

"The SM Green Finds program is a platform for Filipino consumers to have easy access to products that will enable them to live sustainably," Tiu elaborates. "Having Green Finds in SM stores will support the Filipino consumer’s resourcefulness and, at the same time, further educate them on the relevant topic of sustainability."

As a marketplace leader, SM aims to play a pivotal role in positively impacting consumer behavior and fueling a sustainable ecosystem together with its supplier partners, which include social enterprises and MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises) that support their advocacy to bring Filipino consumers closer to a greener lifestyle.

“We are purposely integrating SM Green Finds with the plans and campaigns of the SM Store all throughout the current calendar year and beyond," Tiu shares.

With its scale and reach, SM likewise hopes to impact the future of social enterprises and MSMEs producing local and indigenous products.
