Disney World accepts visitor's 46-year-old ticket: 'I can't believe it actually worked'

A TikToker is making the rounds online after sharing that Disney World accepted his admission ticket from the late 1970s.

In a video posted on the social media platform, Matthew Ables said that the 46-year-old ticket, which initially cost $8 (P449), had been "collecting dust" in an old cabinet "since before [he] was born."

He then gave a look at his ticket booklet showing an older design of the castle. It read "10 Adventures in Walt Disney World The Magic Kingdom" in front and "Admit one entry to The Magic Kingdom" at the back.

Matthew pointed out that the ticket has "never been used" and that it had "no expiration date." According to him, this means he "either found the golden ticket or [he's] delusional thinking that the mouse is gonna let [him] use it to get inside nearly half a century later."

The content creator visited Disney World in Orlando, Florida to try his luck. 

He felt "nervous" when the Guest Relations office worker "started aggressively stamping void all over the ticket booklet" and left, but to his surprise, the latter came back to hand him a different pass that granted him entry to the attraction.

"I can’t believe this actually worked," said Matthew.

He noted that the current one-day admission ticket to Disney World is priced over 20 times its value back in 1978—from $8 (P449) to $164 (P9,000) in 2024.
