Main cast members of the classic horror television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer are reuniting for an upcoming audio content spinoff.

Entertainment news website ComicBook reported that audio platform Audible's Slayers: A Buffyverse Story will see the reunion of the likes of James Marsters, Charisma Carpenter, Anthony Head, Juliet Landau, Emma Caulfield, Amber Benson, James Charles Leary, and Danny Strong.

There will also be new characters like Laya DeLeon Hayes, according to the report.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer tells the story of a young woman, who's destined to slay vampires, demons, and other infernal creatures. She wants to live a normal life with her friends but eventually embraces her destiny.

It aired from 1997 to 2003.

Slayers takes place 10 years after the events of the original series finale.

It follows Spike (Marsters), who's set to mentor a rookie slayer, 16-year-old Indira Nunally. They collide with a veteran slayer from a parallel reality where the original series' titular Buffy never existed and where Cordelia Chase (Carpenter) is the only slayer. Cordelia will need Spike's help as her world is being terrorized by Drusilla (Landau), Spike's former lover.

According to a press release shared by ComicBook, the audio content was written by Benson alongside writer Christopher Golden. It was directed by Benson, Golden, and Kc Wayland.

"The audio original brings fans a fresh story and a new world, filled with horror, heart, humor, and surprises at every turn," it said.

Marsters said he's ecstatic to be back with his dear friends.

"[W]e take listeners on a familiar but unexpected journey chock full of horror, passion and mischief," he's quoted as saying. "I'm excited for old and new fans to experience this beloved world of vampire slaying like never before, brought to life through immersive audio storytelling."

Slayers will stream starting Oct. 12.

The cast members will also attend the New York Comic Con on Oct. 13 to talk about Slayers, according to ComicBook.
