The hit webtoon series True Beauty is finally being adapted into anime which is set to premiere in 2024.

Crunchyroll made the announcement during its Anime NYC panel on Saturday, Nov. 18, along with the list of new animated shows arriving on the streaming platform next year.

The anime will be based on Yaongyi’s webtoon Yeosin-gangnim (True Beauty) published on South Korea's Naver from April 2018 to June 2023. It follows the story of a high school student Lim Ju-kyung who, after being bullied for her appearance, uses her extraordinary makeup skills to hide her natural face and transform herself into a gorgeous young lady.

It was adapted into a K-drama which aired from December 2020 to February 2021 via South Korea's cable network tvN. The 16-episode series is headlined by popular Hallyu stars Moon Ga-young, Cha Eun-woo, Hwang In-youp, and Park Yoo-na.

Similar to the webtoon and K-drama, the anime's official synopsis states that the story revolves around the main character Jugyeong as she transforms herself with makeup and "transfers to Seobom High School to leave her past of being bullied." The school, according to Crunchyroll, is "known for producing idols, actors, and influencers."

She later "becomes the center of attention, gaining the title" of "True Beauty goddess" who gets scouted by entertainment agencies. However, her childhood friend and classmate Sujin tries to bring her down "using cunning tactics and traps."

Things turn even more exciting when Suho Lee, the school's heartthrob sees Jugyeong's bare face, and she crosses paths with Seo Jun Han, "who is determined to unveil her true identity."

Crunchyroll has yet to announce the anime's exact date of release.
