Award-winning offering Poor Things and Singapore's Oscars entry The Breaking Ice have been announced as the opening and closing films for QCinema's International Film Festival happening in November.

QCinema made the announcement on Tuesday, Oct. 24. Starring Emma Stone, Poor Things is a dark-sexy-comedy film directed by Daniel Lanthimos. It follows the story of a resurrected woman on a journey of reinventing herself. It recently won the Golden Lion award in this year’s prestigious Venice Film Festival.

The Breaking Ice, meanwhile, will serve as the closing film. This Singaporean-Chinese drama film talks about the forming relationships between three lonely young adult tourists in a snowy city. Helmed by Anthony Chen, this film is Singapore’s entry to the 2024 Academy Awards.

This year’s international film festival will feature around 65 films globally, including five from the Philippines for the QCSEA Shorts Competition.

Other participating films this year are Enter the Dragon starring Bruce Lee and Wong Kar Wai’s Chungking Express and Fallen Angels under the Restored Classics section.

The event will take place in select theaters in Quezon City, Shangri-La Mall Red Carpet, and Power Plant from Nov. 17 to 26. Further details, including the official schedule, are yet to be announced.
