Rachelle Ann Go to reprise role in 'Hamilton' musical
Filipino singer Rachelle Ann Go is reprising her role as one of the lead cast members of the award-winning musical Hamilton, which is holding its international tour in the Philippines.
Go is portraying Elizabeth Schulyer Hamilton, the wife of the titular character Alexander Hamilton.
The 36-year-old artist starred as Elizabeth in the West End production in London from 2017 to 2019. Her performance was met with much praise from critics, getting a nod as Best Actress in the 2018 BroadwayWorld UK Awards.
Other cast members include Jason Arrow as Alexander Hamilton, DeAundre’ Woods as Aaron Burr, Akina Edmonds as Angelica Schuyler, Darnell Abraham as George Washington, David Park as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson, Shaka Bagadu Cook as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison, Jacob Guzman as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton, Elandrah Eramiha as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds, and Brent Hill as King George.
The international tour company of 34 performers is completed by Claire Abaijah-Griffin, Kirrah Amosa, Curtis Angus, Kyla Bartholomeusz, Taylor Broadard, Trey Curtis, Aniya Danée, Lachlan Dearing, Winston Hillyer, Indigo Hunt, Marcus John, Julian Kuo, Iosefa Laga’aia, Ashton Lash, HaNy Lee, Terrance Martin, Trevor Miles, Eliza Ohman, Callan Purcell, Joshua Rivera, Wesley Ryan, Emmy Saheki, Terrance Spencer, and Dayton Tavares.
Premiering in 2015, Hamilton tells the story of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton through song and rap.
It won 16 nominations and 11 awards, including best musical at the Tony Awards, considered the highest accolade in the musical industry. It also won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for drama.
Hamilton’s first international tour kicked off at the Spark Arena in Auckland last May.
The Philippine show will be held at The Theatre at Solaire on Sept. 17.
It will be followed by its Middle East premiere at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on Jan. 17, 2024.
Organizers said further cities will be announced in the coming months.
