Almost two years after its release, Gal Gadot admits star-studded 'Imagine' cover was in 'poor taste'
After almost two years since the controversial star-studded cover of Imagine led by actress Gal Gadot, the Wonder Woman star has admitted that the move was in "poor taste."
In case you didn't know (or blocked it from your memory), Gadot along with fellow celebrities Kristen Wiig, Amy Adams, Mark Ruffalo, Jimmy Fallon, Will Ferrell, James Marsden, and more shared an acoustic cover of John Lennon's Imagine on March of 2020 during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic to inspire people to keep going.
It's since earned the ire of the Internet for being "tone-deaf" by showcasing the celebrities in their posh homes amid the health crisis.
"With the whole 'Imagine' controversy, it's funny," Gadot shared on the February 2022 cover story of InStyle magazine,
"I was calling Kristen [Wiig] and I was like, 'Listen, I want to do this thing.' The pandemic was in Europe and Israel before it came here [to the U.S.] in the same way. I was seeing where everything was headed," the star added.
"But it was premature. It wasn't the right timing, and it wasn't the right thing. It was in poor taste. All pure intentions, but sometimes you don't hit the bulls-eye, right?"
Gadot went on to share that she's joked about the ordeal and even went as far as singing it on stage during the Elle Women in Hollywood awards nights.
"It just felt right, and I don't take myself too seriously …I felt like I wanted to take the air out of it, so that [event] was a delightful opportunity to do that."
