'Rent' musical cast for Manila staging revealed

9 Works Theatrical has released the cast for its upcoming production of Rent for its 2024 staging of the hit Broadway musical in the Philippines.
Playing the role of narrator Mark Cohen are Ian Pangilinan and Reb Atadero—Pangilinan is known for starring in the Pinoy BL web series Gaya Sa Pelikula, while Atadero has previously starred in the 2018 and 2019 runs of Ang Huling El Bimbo The Musical.
Anthony Rosaldo, who was also part of the 2023 run of Ang Huling El Bimbo The Musical, will be playing Roger, a struggling musician who is HIV positive.
Meanwhile, Mimi, Roger's love interest, will be played by Molly Langley and Thea Astley.
Justine Peña and Jasmine Fitzgerald will take on the role of Mark's ex-girlfriend Maureen, while Mica Fajardo and Fay Castro will play her lawyer girlfriend Joanne.
Stepping into the shoes of young drag queen Angel's shoes are Adrian Lindayag and Lance Reblando, while Garret Bolden will be professor Tom Collins. The role will also be played in certain performances by Markki Stroem, who is cast as lead Benny. Guji Lorenzana will perform as Benny in certain performances.
The rest of the cast includes Vyen Villanueva as Paul, Kai Benson as Alexi Darling, Paul Valdez and Chesko Rodriguez as Steve, Misha Fabian as Ally, Jordan Andrews as Gordon, and Abi Sulit as Pam.
The 2024 run of Rent will begin in April, according to 9 Works Theatrical.
